Resin Auto Mixing
Simplify Your Resin Mixing with TableFlip Foundry's Auto Mixing Profile
- For 3D resin printing enthusiasts, keeping resin properly mixed is a common challenge. Manual stirring with a spatula or shaking resin bottles can be time-consuming and messy, especially for those managing multiple printers. To make this process easier, TableFlip Foundry has developed two innovative solutions: the G-Code Auto Mixing Profile and the Lychee Trick Auto Mixing Profile.
Option 1: G-Code Auto Mixing Profile
The G-Code Auto Mixing Profile is a customizable script designed for printers that use Chitu Systems, such as Elegoo and Phrozen models. It’s important to note that a lot of newer printers wont run Gcode so you may have to use the Lychee Trick. This profile automates the mixing process by controlling the build plate movements and introducing vibration cycles to keep your resin agitated, preventing it from separating.
- Quick Mix Cycle: Ideal for resin that has been sitting for a few days. This cycle lifts the build plate up and down through the entire height of the vat, followed by a vibration cycle to thoroughly mix the resin. It’s perfect for getting your printer ready quickly.
- Infinite Mix Cycle: Designed for use between prints. Once a print finishes, start the Infinite Mix Cycle, and it will continuously agitate the resin, keeping it ready for your next print whenever you’re ready.
How to Use the G-Code Auto Mixing Profile:
- Save the Auto Mixing Profile onto your flash disk and insert it into your printer.
- Select the appropriate cycle (Quick Mix or Infinite Mix) from the printer’s menu.
- The printer will handle the rest, ensuring your resin is always ready for use.
Option 2: Lychee Trick Auto Mixing Profile
For printers that do not support G-Code, the Lychee Trick Auto Mixing Profile offers an alternative solution. This method uses creative slicer settings to achieve a similar effect to the G-Code option, keeping your resin mixed without the need for manual intervention.
How to Create the Lychee Trick Auto Mixing Profile:
- Create a New Resin Profile: In Lychee, add a new resin profile and label it clearly as “Auto Mixing Profile” to avoid confusion with other profiles.
- Adjust Burn-In Layers: Set the burn-in layers to a high number (e.g., 20 cycles) to simulate the quick mix phase. This will cause the build plate to move rapidly up and down to stir the resin.
- Set Exposure to Zero: Make sure the exposure time is set to zero to prevent any curing during the mixing process.
- Fine-Tune Layer Settings: Set the layer thickness to the lowest possible value (e.g., 1 micron) to keep the build plate submerged and slowly moving, preventing the resin from settling.
- Light Off Delay: Change the light-off delay to minutes and set how often you want the build plate to move (e.g., every 10 minutes). This will keep the resin agitated over a long period.
How to Use the Lychee Trick Auto Mixing Profile:
- Save the customized profile onto your flash disk and load it into your printer.
- Run the profile whenever you need to keep the resin mixed between prints.
- The printer will agitate the resin at the intervals you’ve set, ensuring it’s always ready for use.
Recommended Workflow
- Here’s how to integrate the Auto Mixing Profiles into your 3D printing routine:
- For G-Code Supported Printers: Load the G-Code Auto Mixing Profile onto your flash disk and use the Quick Mix or Infinite Mix Cycle depending on your needs.
- For Non-G-Code Printers: Use the Lychee Trick Auto Mixing Profile by following the steps above to keep your resin mixed efficiently.
Important Considerations
Regardless of which method you use, always clear your build plate and vat of any solid prints before running the mixing profile. This precaution prevents damage to your printer and ensures a smooth printing process.
While both Auto Mixing Profiles are designed to be safe, use them at your own discretion. Extensive testing has shown no significant wear on printers, but individual setups may vary.
